Laurence Riley
Born in Glossop on the edge of the Peak District, Laurence Riley is a 15-year-old wildlife and nature photographer whose work is inspired by a deep connection to the outdoors. For over two years, he has explored and photographed the landscapes and wildlife of the Peak District, while also travelling to places such as Slovenia, Cyprus, southern Spain, Scotland, Croatia, Germany, Wales, and Ireland, among many more, in search of unique natural moments and experiences.
Photography is far more than a hobby for Laurence; it is a personal escape and a way of understanding the world around him. Living with ADHD, he finds peace, focus, and freedom through nature and wildlife photography. Being outdoors with a camera allows him to step away from the pressures and stress of everyday life and become completely immersed in the environment around him. His images aim to capture not only the appearance of animals and landscapes, but also the emotion, atmosphere, and feeling within each moment.
Laurence’s approach to photography is creative, spontaneous, and constantly evolving. He enjoys going out into nature without expectations, photographing anything that catches his eye and experimenting with different angles, foregrounds, backgrounds, and editing techniques to create images with depth and individuality. Whether he is photographing a dramatic landscape or a small bird close to home, he approaches every subject with curiosity and passion.
“Through my work, I hope to share the beauty, emotion, and wonder of the natural world while encouraging others to appreciate and protect wildlife and the environments they inhabit.”
